Take Gap/Give Gap

Sometimes things happen that don't make sense to me; well, actually this happens a lot.  At such times I try and project possible explanations for life's inexplicable occurrences.  For example if someone is tailgating me, I assume that they are impatient, but allow for the possibility that they need to go to the bathroom or are on their way to the hospital/fire station/blast-off site.

However sometimes I cannot find any plausible reasons for human behavior and am stumped. For example, I don't get why people like to intentionally harm other people, why people buy designer watches, or why anyone watches any program that ends in "licious" (I'm just sayin).

So the other day when I was going through a buffet line-I did not get why the person ahead of me seemed so perturbed that I asked if I could go ahead of him (after ten minutes of me skipping almost all the selections but waiting for him to scoop up a bit of each and every selection).  I did not want that person to feel rushed, so why not return the favor and let me skip on down to the end?  Why get angry?  At times like these I feel like Larry David in a Curb Your Enthusiasm episode. Can I get a witness?
